The birth order of children had an influence
on the children lives. The idea is from How your Birth Order Influences Your
Life Adjustment which was written by Lucille Forer. He uses four different
kinds of positions of children in the family to show the influences of
attitudes and behaviors.
First, Lucille Forer tells us that
because of parents, the oldest child will become more responsible and more
capable than the younger children in the family. Second, the middle child will
learn with the oldest, and try to be more capable than someone who
is younger than him. But, the middle child will need some support for him to obtain what he wants. Third, the youngest child will not do some things very well to develop himself, because there are many people around him, and helping him. Finally, the only child cannot have many supports. He needs to depend on himself to do something as well as possible. So, Lucille Forer compares these four kinds of children to show their positions of family can affect children’s attitudes and behaviors.
I agree with the author’s idea in the passage. But, I also believe the parent’s mind can affect children’s attitudes and behaviors. Because my parents taught me, I could not ask someone to help myself when I do not know how to do. But, when I try my best, and I still do not know that. Then, I can ask someone to help me. So, I always like to do something by myself, and I do not like some people to disturb me when I am doing something.
However, there is another case to show us that parents’ mind can affect children’s attitudes and behaviors. The news told about a parent wants their child has a successful future. They only require the child to study hard, some other things they could help him to finish, even if the child orders the parent to do something. So, the child only knows how to study, and he does not know how to take care of himself. Also, he does not know how to respect his parents, because he just knows how to order them. So, the parents’ mind can strongly affect children’s attitudes and behaviors.
In conclusion, we know the attitude and behavior is affected by parents. Therefore, parents should let children at least know how to take care of themselves, and not make children depend on them too much.
